Job Description
We are looking for a Lead Barista to help assist with the daily operations of our new flagship store and coffee shop (called Double Black) in San Francisco, CA.
As the Lead Barista you will act as a core team member helping not only run day-to-day operations, but also getting the store up and running.Before opening, you will work directly with the general manager, head of operations, and founders to help set up the store operationally. This will include menu ideation, setting up internal procedures, and being a helping hand leading up to the store’s opening.
After opening, you will be working in tandem with the general manager to ensure successful daily operation. You’ll champion our core values and pursuit of unreasonable hospitality with our customers and community. You’re the reason Yardsale and Double Black will become a place people in San Francisco want to be at. This will include mastering of our coffee + food service from item knowledge to complete control of procedures.
Since the space will also hold retail, it will be important to be versed in all Yardsale products.
You Will
- Work alongside the General Manager to train and manage staff
- Help create standards to cafe operations (menu, cleaning schedules, etc)
- Manage the upkeep and training of appliances
- Own the drink process from ideation to implementation, we are looking to create a drink menu that reflects Yardsale’s ideology
You Are
- A problem solver, working in a fast paced environment requires you to be quick on your feet and able to keep a level head
- Hospitality oriented, you will be the face of the Yardsale brand and a key contributor to the neighborhood community
- Coffee crazed, drink offerings will be a focal point at Double Black so bringing a passionate and creative mindset will be imperative
- A team player willing to step up and lead when needed
- Creative! We try to go where other traditional outdoor brands don’t and want this to span across our cafe experience and offerings
Must-Haves
- Advanced coffee knowledge and barista experience
- Strong willingness to learn and lean in depending on the company’s needs
- You must live in San Francisco and be available to work onsite at our Cole Valley, SF store
- Available during weekends
- A love for the outdoors, adventure, and travel

- Pay: $25/hr + tips pooled
