Job Description

We’re hiring a General Manager to lead and manage our new flagship store and coffee shop (called Double Black) in San Francisco, California.

As the General Manager, you’ll have the unique opportunity to bring to life Yardsale’s first retail presence through a blended store and cafe experience. We're building a full coffee bar, seating for up to 35 people, and a retail experience that is uniquely Yardsale.

Before opening day, you will work directly with the founding team to prepare the store operationally. This will include everything from setting up our internal procedures, hiring staff members, general project management, finalizing the build-out, merchandising, and more.

After opening, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day success of the store. You’ll champion our core values and pursuit of unreasonable hospitality with our customers and community. You’re the reason Yardsale and Double Black will become a place people in San Francisco want to be at. This involves managing staff, shift schedules, external vendors and supplies, inventory and retail POS systems, as well as events and community engagement.

Last, you will play a role in the marketing of our coffee brand, Double Black in partnership with the Yardsale marketing team.

You Will

• Manage staff and shift schedule of all retail and cafe employees
• Create standards for cafe operations (menu, cleaning schedules, etc)
• Implement standards for all retail merchandising
• Lead hiring process of part time employees
• Lead employee training in accordance with health department requirements
• Manage cafe supply chain management (procurement with outside vendors)
• Help manage internal and community event coordination
• Manage retail inventory / POS + back stock
• Creative execution and assistance for social media for Double Black alongside the founders
• Pre-launch project management to ensure a successful and on-time launch date

• Creative! We try to go where other traditional outdoor brands don’t and want this to span across everything we do, including product, operations, and sales
• Entrepreneurial-minded with an innovative and resourceful approach to problem-solving
• Willing to go the extra mile, always with a positive attitude

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or strong equivalent work experience
• Preference towards those with retail, cafe, or coffee experience
• Strong willingness to learn and lean in depending on the company’s needs season-by-season

Must-Haves

• You must live in San Francisco and be available to work onsite at our Cole Valley, SF store and office 5 days a week (with some flexibility)
• A love for the outdoors, adventure, and travel
